While commenting the MTV broadcast choices, one may say the result wasn't the best possible. This was mainely due to commercial obligations as all the advertising profits of the day went to charity. But ABC had a second difficulty to face : some artists had requested to appear in the syndicated part of the broadcast (the second part with Dik Clarke) and would have refused to play if their request wasn't fullfilled. In his book, Bob Geldof explains he finally said "yes" to everyone, fully aware that it wasn't possible to do so.

ABC was then forced to record acts in the afternoon in order to air them later in teh evening. The result is a pure catastrophy in terms of frustration to the potential viewer. But for us, years later, this source has some acts that were incomplete on the other chanels.
